História
Formed by the Costa Barros de Figueiredo Family, more than five generations ago, Quinta Vale das Escadinhas consists today of four vineyards on the Silgueiros sub-region, Vale das Escadinhas, Barreiro, Esmoitada and Falorca, with an area of production of 13 ha.
All of our vines have been reconverted over the last 30 years, and a significant investment has been made for the purpose of winemaking and the building of a modern winemaking facility.
Given its exceptional conditions, Quinta Vale das Escadinhas also has another 10 ha, providing an agricultural and florestry output with olive grove, hazel-nut and pine-trees.
Região
The Região Demarcada do Douro (1908), a demarcated region known for the quality of its vines, with an approximate area of 376,000 ha, is located amongst a mountainous area and valleys with soft hills and slopes.
A cold rainy climate in winter and dry in the summer, along with the above mentioned land profile, provides unique conditions for winemaking.
Quinta Vale das Escadinhas, where we produce some of the best Dão wines, has all the features of the Region´s estates, and is one of the main landmarks of local viticulture.
